Aman has opened its first resort in Mexico. Amanvari, on Baja’s East Cape, welcomed guests on 1 August 2026 with 18 casitas set where desert, estuary, and the Sea of Cortez meet. For travelers who prefer seclusion to the Cabo corridor, it is a quieter new option — near Los Cabos, far from its pace.
The property sits inside Costa Palmas, a private community on the East Cape of Baja California Sur. The drive from San José del Cabo is typically 45 to 60 minutes; a helicopter transfer takes about 15. Behind the casitas, the Sierra de la Laguna. Ahead, a swimmable stretch of shore. Recent announcements describe beachfront, estuary, and horizon casitas, each with a terrace and a private heated pool.
Dining is kept close to the landscape: coastal cooking over fire at Luma, Aman’s Italian table Arva, and Sesui for Japanese, including a small omakase counter. The spa includes a contemporary temazcal. Through Costa Palmas, a stay can also take in a marina, a Robert Trent Jones II course, and working orchards — useful if Baja is a chapter, not a sealed resort week.
Eighteen keys is the point. The opening matters less as a headline than as a planning fact: a small, discreet Mexico stay now exists on a different coast from Los Cabos.
