Start with four to six nights. A shorter stay usually works best from one base with a selective itinerary. With five or six nights, consider a split only when you want both city evenings and a separate waterfront chapter. Rail and road can connect the shore, but a hotel move still consumes time. A boat is a purposeful experience when its dated timetable fits, not a universal replacement for every transfer.
